CTM’s major shareholder bullish on Macau
|
Posted: 5/26/2011 1:41:42 PM
British phone group Cable & Wireless Communications, which owns 51 percent of local operator CTM, is bullish on the growth prospects for the Macau market.
Chief executive Tony Rice said Macau had been the star performer of the group as yearly revenues in the territory leapt 19 percent year-on-year in the period ended March 2011, led by a boom in the opening of casinos.
“It’s going to be bigger than Las Vegas,” said Mr Rice.
“There has been a huge increase in the number of visitors and they all need some form of telecoms capability. The iPhone is doing very well there.”
