The secretary for transport and public works Lau Si Io didn’t disclose yesterday whether Melco Crown has applied to include a casino in the Macao Studio City.
Instead, Mr Lau stressed once again the project still has to comply with the revised development plan approved by local authorities in 2008, where the development of film production facilities were a major component, as well as hotels.
No casino was included in the land concession contract (which has still not been made public), he stressed.
Mr Lau also confirmed that the government has received an application from the developer to resume construction.
Earlier this month, gaming operator Melco Crown announced an agreement to acquire a 60 percent stake in the Macao Studio City project.
