Macau asks Beijing for Basic Law interpretation

The Macau government has already requested the National People’s Congress Standing Committee for an interpretation of the Basic Law on how it should proceed to amend the electoral methods for both the chief executive and the Legislative Assembly.
It is the first time Macau has done so.
The deputy secretary-general of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, Qiao Xiaoyang, confirmed the news.
Mr Qiao said the committee could discuss the request as early as next month.
