The Secretary for Administration and Justice, Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan, has denied any claims of abuse of power in a case regarding the lease of 10 permanent tombs at the S. Miguel Cemetery in 2001.
Allegedly, among the beneficiaries is one of Ms Chan’s advisors.
The secretary office said yesterday, in a press release, that the lease was approved following the “Municipal Cemetery Regulations” and related internal guidelines.
Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution Office (MP) confirmed that investigations are under way on the case. However, until the moment, there is not enough evidence to open a criminal proceeding.
Nevertheless, the MP stressed that the “competent authorities” should investigate complaints on administrative irregularities.
