Melo Egídio passes away

General Melo Egídio passed away on December 7.
Mr Egídio was governor of Macau from 1979 to 1981 during the Portuguese administration.
He was the first Portuguese governor to visit the mainland in 1980, about a year after Portugal and Beijing had resumed diplomatic relations, after Lisbon recognized the People’s Republic of China.
