The year of 2011 will set a new record for the number of hotel guests in Macau once the final figures are calculated.

Local hotels and guesthouses already welcomed 7.79 million guests in the first eleven months of 2011, more than the 7.76 million recorded for the whole of 2010, when the previous yearly record was set.

In the first 11 months of last year, the number of guests increased by 10.9 percent year-on-year. The average occupancy rate of hotels and guesthouses stood at 83.6 percent, up by 4.5 percentage points year-on-year.

At the end of November, Macau had 22,300 rooms, up by 11.3 percent year-on-year. Five-star hotels accounted for 63.5 percent of the overall supply.
