The court case that caused a five-month delay in the construction of the HK$83 billion Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai Bridge is officially over.
The 66-year-old Hong Kong resident who was opposing the project, arguing that the government, in completing its environmental impact assessment of the project, had failed to include a stand-alone air quality assessment, decided not to file an appeal.
A lower court had ruled in April in favour of the plaintiff but the Hong Kong Court of Appeal overturned the sentence in September.
The delays caused by the lawsuit may have pushed project costs up HK$6.5 billion, according to Hong Kong’s Transport and Housing Bureau.
