No to foreign dealers

General director of the Macau Gaming Enterprises Staff’s Association, Tam Pou Iong, says dealers are against the idea of bringing in foreign workers to do the same job, according to a report by Portuguese-language newspaper Jornal Tribuna de Macau. This comes only a week after a new study by the Gaming Teaching and Research Centre of the Macau Polytechnic Institute suggested the local government allow for the importing of non-local dealers. The study says this should be a gradual process and priority should be given to Hong Kong people. Ms Tam says priority should be given to locals, as there are currently more people applying for training as dealers than there are vacancies in the training courses. Last month, the vice-chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, Francis Lui Yiu Tung, also suggested that the government should allow casinos to import overseas dealers.
