Macau’s population was estimated at 552,300, at the end of last year, a growth of 1.9 percent, according to official estimates.
In regards to the age structure, Macau’s population is getting older: the youth population (aged 0-14) accounted for 12.2 percent, down by 0.5 percentage points over 2009, while the elderly population (aged 65 and over) represented 8.0 percent, up by 0.3 percentage points from a year earlier.
The number of non-resident workers stood at 75,813 at end-2010, an increase of 908 year-on-year.
