The Hollywood “Legends” auction conducted by Julien’s Auctions at the Ponte 16 Resort Hotel achieved total revenue of US$3.2 million (MOP25.6 million).

A total of 435 auction items were sold during the 11-hour auction, conducted in two sessions and featuring stage costumes and collectibles from a number of superstars and celebrities.

Ponte 16 was the venue sponsor for this first auction held by Julien’s Auctions in Asia, which attracted buyers from around the world.

More than 10,000 bidders from the United States and Canada and Europe participated in the auction, alongside bidders from Asia, and particularly Japan.

Apart from participating in the auction in person, many bidders also joined the auction through absentee bidding, online platforms or bid over the telephone.

Among the items sold were Bruce Lee’s “Game of Death” shoes, sold to a US bidder for US$12,500 including buyer’s premium.

Michael Jackson’s black glove and arm brace, with the highest estimated price of US$50,000, was also sold to a US bidder for US$216,000 including buyer’s premium after several rounds of intensive bidding.

The most stunning result went to the Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan signed basketball, which was sold at 366 times over the highest estimated price for US$294,000 including buyer’s premium.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ponte 16, Hoffman Ma, representing Ponte 16, successfully bid for a Michael Jackson electric jacket and used towel for US$102,000 including buyer’s premium and MJ signed guitar for US$10,000.

The resort is planning to place the newly acquired collectibles in its Michael Jackson Gallery.
