Retail sales for the fourth quarter of 2010 amounted to MOP8.18 billion (US$1.02 billion), up by 25 percent year-on-year.
Retail sales of watches, clocks and jewellery (23 percent) took the largest share, followed by sales of goods in department stores (16 percent), adults’ clothing (11 percent) and leather goods (10 percent).
For the whole year of 2010, the total value of retail sales reached MOP29.50 billion, up notably by 32 percent compared with 2009.
After removing the effect of price changes, the volume of retail sales rose by 16 percent and by 22 percent year-on-year for the for the fourth quarter of 2010 and the whole year of 2010, respectively.
