Phil Ivey returns to Macau

Poker star Phil Ivey is in Macau to play at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau main event, according to PokerStars. Mr Ivey’s was spotted yesterday, as he “quietly walked into the PokerStars Macau poker room and sat down to play,” a press release said. He easily survived to reach the second day of the tournament. In May, the American player issued a statement stating he would not be playing the 2011 World Series of Poker. He hasn’t played in a live event since. He became famous in Macau after participating last year in a series of very high-stake poker games, facing some wealthy Chinese businessmen. The opening day (Day 1a) of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau main event attracted 269 runners, of which 155 survived to reach day 2, on Friday. A similar field size is expected today on Day 1b, which will mean a new record for the biggest main event field in Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau history.
