Portugal and Russia today signed a roadmap for boosting cooperation, which includes actions to promote increased trade in goods and services, the Office of the Deputy Minister of Economy of Portugal announced.
“This roadmap will promote a strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries, in particular the extension of the legal framework for economic and trade cooperation, the promotion of economic, commercial and investment cooperation, the strengthening of innovation in economic and trade between Portugal and Russia, in infrastructure and transport, in renewable energy and in industry, “the press release said.
Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs, Pedro Siza Vieira, and Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin, co-chaired the 7th Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation, and signed the road map.
According to the same note, “among the actions proposed for the period 2018-2020 is the promotion of increased trade of goods and services between Russia and Portugal and tourism flows.”
Cited in the same note, Pedro Siza Vieira said that this roadmap “is an important impetus to boost economic relations between Portugal and Russia.”
“At the moment, Russia is our 36th largest market for exports, so trade relations have a great margin of progression,” says the Portuguese minister.
“Portugal is a country with highly qualified resources and high quality and technologically advanced products,” he said, hoping that “this agreement could stimulate more Russian investment” in the country.
