Portugal: Government launches €100M energy efficiency credit line for SMEs

Lisbon – The funds are earmarked to support industrial and tourist companies developing projects that permit a reduction in energy consumption and a switch from energy generated by fossil fuels to renewables.

The funds are to be available for two years after the programme starts, with the maximum loan amount per company €2 million.

The credit line, which is under the Interface programme, “will enable companies to finance the replacement of existing equipment with other, more innovative, modern and energy-saving [equipment],” the ministry said, adding that it would “implement monitoring, control and performance devices to optimise the conditions of use and of consumption” and help with the switch to renewables “such as small-scale wind power systems, geothermal … and biomass boilers.”
