Portugal: Member states have to prepare for no Brexit deal – Minister

Lisbon – He said everyone wanted an agreement with Britain but they had to prepare for all scenarios.

“All the scenarios are an agreement (…) that will connect the UK and the EU even more tightly than the EU agreement with Canada, Japan or Turkey and that is close to (…) the EU’s relationship with Norway”, he said.

The minister said, however, that the countries had to be prepared for a hard Brexit with no agreement in March next year.

Augusto Santos Silva said he did not think it was odd that the European Commission (EC) recommended Member States to prepare contingency plans in case there was no agreement with the British government.
