Sao Tome: Minister of finance calls for investment by Macau Legend Development

On Thursday, the Government of Sao Tome and Principe asked Macau-based company Macau Legend Development (MLD) to consider building a deep-water port and to rehabilitate the country’s international airport.

Sao Tome and Principe Finance Minister Americo Ramos presented the plan during a meeting the government held with a delegation from Macau Legend Development, which is headed by Macau entrepreneur David Chow.

“The company is going to analyse this and see how we can take on investments in the future,” Chow told journalists after the meeting.

Chow added that his company was looking for new business opportunities and was willing to take advantage of the “platform that exists between China and Portuguese-speaking countries” in order to expand.

“The country has great potential; namely, in the areas of infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and health. We may work in future to see if there is the possibility of investments here in São Tome,” he added.

Macau Legend Development is currently planning a casino resort in Cape Verde, which is expected to open by 2019.
