SJM to improve air quality inside casinos: Leong

Angela Leong On Kei, executive director of SJM Holdings Ltd, said the company would act quickly to improve the air quality inside the casinos and slot machine parlours operated under its gaming licence. Ms Leong’s comments came after the Health Bureau found that the smoking areas inside 16 of SJM’s 19 casinos and slot machine parlours did not comply with the government’s air quality requirements, our sister publication Business Daily reports. Most of these venues are run by third-party companies. The improvements inside the casinos’ smoking areas would involve further discussion with SJM’s partners, Ms Leong said. Almost two thirds (28) of Macau’s gaming venues failed to meet the compulsory air quality requirements for their smoking areas, according to a maiden evaluation by the Health Bureau in late March.
