Smoky casinos appeal against air-quality tests

All 16 gaming establishments that failed a second round of air-quality tests are appealing against the results. Health Bureau director Lei Chin Ion said the appeals process would determine if the size of their smoking areas should be reduced. The law says at last half of a casino’s gaming floor area must be non-smoking. Casinos that fail to meet air-quality standards can be punished by the reduction of the size of its smoking area. Mr Lei did not say if the test results or the outcomes of the appeals would be made public.
