Some 81 applications for residency approved in 2015

Last year, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) received 482 applications for temporary residency for management or technical personnel, with 81 approved, the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong Vai Tac, told the Legislative Assembly plenary session yesterday. Mr. Leong indicated that from 2011 to 2015, some 1,261 such residency permits had been granted to management or technical personnel, of which 670 or more than 53 per cent were engaged in education, hotel and tourism, the cultural and creative industry, medicine and MICE businesses. Mr. Leong added that IPIM’s evaluation of the applications are based on several factors, including the applicant’s resume, work qualifications, work experience and the needs of Macau’s human resources in different fields.
