Visitor arrivals jump 5.6 pct over Easter

Visitor arrivals totalled some 427,900 during the Easter holiday period spanning April 14 to April 17, increasing 5.6 per cent as compared to the same period last year, according to data released yesterday by the Macao Government Tourism Office.
Of total visitors, those from the Greater China region amounted to some 384,000, a growth of 5.1 per cent year-on-year, with those from Mainland China and Hong Kong increasing 6.5 per cent 4.1 per cent, respectively. While tourists from other markets increased by 10.9 per cent year-on-year, visitors from Taiwan decreased 10.3 per cent, the Office noted.
Meanwhile, over 2.15 million border crossings were recorded at the city’s different checkpoints during the Easter holiday, the Public Security Police Force told Business Daily.
