Aerostan Cargo submits report on inflight turn back incident, cleared to take off

Airliner Aerostan Cargo has submitted a written notification to the  Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) of an inflight turn back incident that occurred on Wednesday, stating it was due to an aircraft engine failure.

The cargo flight was destined to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The incident took place on November 23, at 1:16pm when the cockpit control panel of the aircraft indicated fire on engine No. 2, after taking off from the runway of Macau International Airport.

The captain immediately performed troubleshooting in accordance with the operations procedures, shut down engine No. 2, dumped fuel to allow the aircraft to reach the weight level safe for landing, and requested Macau International Airport for emergency landing, AACM indicated in a statement.

After receiving notification, airport authorities  activated the Emergency Operations Centre at 1:46pm to prepare for the contingency work. The cargo aircraft eventually landed safely on the runway at 1:59pm.

After all safety procedures were completed, AACM granted approval to the airline to allow the aircraft to depart from Macau International Airport on Thursday night.
