Macau (MNA) – A shuttle bus route between the Macau International Airport (MIA) and the Hong Kong border checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) is being planned by the International Airport Company Ltd. (CAM), the marketing director of MIA, Eric Fong, told MNA on Thursday.
In addition, a bus route from the local airport to the Macau border checkpoint of the super bridge is also in preparation, with opening imminent.
“We are working on a solution from the [Macau] airport to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau [Bridge] border on the Macau side during the first stage,” Mr. Fong told MNA. “On the second stage, we will work on the [route between] Hong Kong artificial island to the [Macau] airport.”
Current plans stipulate that the bus route linking the local airport to the Macau side of the HZMB will be launched “this quarter,” according to the marketing director.
For the longer transportation route over the bridge, he added that opening is pending on negotiations between the Transport Bureau (DSAT) and the “Hong Kong side.”
In a separate correspondence with MNA, the DSAT said that they are still arranging the details for the longer route.
‘Our Bureau will co-ordinate the operation of the shuttle buses between the Macau International Airport and the Hong Kong border checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, but the specific arrangements involved will be handled by the Macau International Airport Company Ltd. (CAM),’ the DSAT said in its written reply.
Fong spoke to MNA on the sidelines of a breakfast meeting organised by the British Business Association of Macau (BBAM).
