Macau (MNA) – Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On has renewed Eddie Yue Kai Wong and Chui Sai Cheong’s appointments as members of the Prosecutors Committee of the Public Prosecutions Office, following the proposal of the Independent Commission responsible for nominating the candidates for the position of judge.
According to a dispatch in the official Gazette on Wednesday, the appointments enter into force today – the date of publication.
The term of office shall be three years.
The Prosecutors Committee is an independent ruling body responsible for the appraisal and disciplinary management of magistrates and judicial officers of the Public Prosecutions Office, according to the Office.
The committee is composed by the Prosecutor General, Ip Son Sang, who acts as the ex-officio president, one assistant prosecutor general (Chan Tsz King), and one prosecutor elected amongst the Office magistrates (Mei Fan Chan da Costa Roque), as well as two community members appointed by the CE, as announced today.
Wong, who is a prominent architect, is also a member of the Executive Council of the Macau SAR Government, which serves as a core policy-making organ.
Chui San Cheong, a lawyer and brother of the CE, holds several positions including that of legislator and vice-president of the Legislative Assembly.
