Average daily construction workers wages rise slightly to MOP736 in Q2

The average daily wage of construction workers increased by 2.2 per cent quarter-to-quarter to MOP736 in the second quarter of 2020, with the average daily wages of non-resident construction workers (MOP622) and local construction workers (MOP948) rising, by 2.5 per cent and 0.7 per cent, respectively.

In terms of occupation, the largest increases were reported on average daily wages of bricklayers & plasterers (MOP669), which rose by 4.4 per cent, while the wages of air-conditioning mechanics (MOP705), structural iron erectors (MOP792) and electrician & electrical workers (MOP766) all fell by 3.8 per cent.

According to data provided by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), the number of non-resident workers employed in the Macau construction sector has increased by 2.7 per cent from January to June of this year despite the pandemic, amounting to some 26,822 workers, mostly from Mainland China.
