Aviation authority orders Air Macau to investigate Tokyo flight mechanical problems

Macau (MNA) – The Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) told MNA that it has required Air Macau to conduct an investigation on the mechanical issues recorded on one of its flights departing Tokyo, with a preliminary report expected to be received in one month.

On July 17 Air Macau’s flight NX861 coming from Tokyo to Macau encountered mechanical problems after taking-off, with the flight forced to return to Narita airport.

‘In accordance with the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting Scheme which is regulated by the Aeronautical Circular AC/GEN/003R02, the operator has to file in the written notification of any incident with our Authority within 72 hours. We received [on Thursday] the notification from Air Macau about the NX861 in-flight turn back incident that took place [on Wednesday,’ an AACM spokesperson told MNA.
