A roadshow promoting Macau as a safe destination for mainland Chinese tourists has been inaugurated in the heart of the national capital, along Beijing’s Wangfujing Street. The “Beijing Macau Week” features the SAR’s main attractions with a focus on the 15th anniversary of the inscription of the Historic Centre of Macau on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
The four-day event, which kicked off on Saturday, takes place on the heels of the reinstatement of individual travel permit issuance for Mainland residents from all over the country, effective on September 23.
During the opening ceremony, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U stressed that Macau authorities are holding the series of promotional activities in Beijing as the top choice of venue, with the aim to convey Macau’s cordial welcome to Mainland residents for a first-hand experience of the city’s unique glamour, according to statement from the Government Information Bureau. Ms Ao Ioeng added that the SAR Government has continuously adopted different effective measures of pandemic control and prevention while collaborating with Zhuhai in carrying out pertinent measures, to protect the safety of residents and visitors.
Vice Mayor of Beijing Municipal Government, Wang Hong expressed the hope that this latest measure will further enhance Macao’s exchange and cooperation with the Mainland and especially Beijing in the field of tourism.
To further enhance cooperation between Beijing and Macau, MGTO and IPIM co-organized a “Beijing – Macau tourism and MICE presentation” on Sunday (September 27) as part of the set of events promoting Macau.
