Cabo Verde: Another 73 coronavirus cases and one more death reported

Cabo Verde has registered another death caused by the new coronavirus, increasing to 43 the number of deaths in the country, which accounted for another 73 new positive cases, with an accumulated total of 4,473, according to official data.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Social Security said that the death occurred in the city of Praia, which now registers 27 deaths because of the disease.

In the usual press conference to take stock of Covid-19 in the country on Wednesday, the National Health Director, Artur Correia, informed that the person who died on Tuesday was a 59-year-old woman, who had other associated diseases.  

Of the 73 new positive cases reported on Wednesday, the director of health said that only 17 refer to this week, while the rest refer to the previous week.

The same source said that most cases (27) were registered in the city of Praia, on the island of Santiago.

Still on the island of Santiago, cases were diagnosed in the municipalities of Ribeira Grande (10), Santa Catarina (8), São Miguel (4), São Lourenço dos Órgãos (2), Santa Cruz, São Domingos and Tarrafal, with one each.  

In the island of Fogo, eight more cases were counted, distributed by the councils of São Filipe (2) and Mosteiros (6), while Boa Vista has two more cases, São Vicente plus four and Sal plus five new cases of the disease.

In the last 24 hours, the country registered 64 recovered patients, and now counts an accumulated of 3,915 people discharged.

With the new data, the country counts now 513 active cases, two transferred, out of a total of 4,473 positive cases accumulated since March 19.
