Chartered flight to take 362 Filipino nationals to Manila on June 18

Some 362 Filipino nationals left stranded in Macau and registered with the Philippines Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will return to the country in a special Philippines Airlines flight arranged by the Philippine Consulate General in Macau SAR, newspaper Ponto Final reported.

The flight will depart the Macau International Airport at 1:15pm on June 18 arriving Manila at 3:30pm.

This is the second chartered flight arranged by the consulate to assess how many Filipino nationals left unable to return to the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The consulate had carried a survey to inquire on Filipino residents wanting to return to the country, as many non-resident workers from the Philippines were left without a job due to the health crisis, with some 800 people asking for assistance.

According to the consulate, this will be the last flight arranged for this purpose.

Melco Resorts & Entertainment to charter special flight from Macau to Manila in order to transport some of its Filipino workers on June 12, with Sands China having also arranged a flight for some 130 Filipino workers.

Both flights also allowed some stranded Philippines residents to board.
