Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng in Beijing between March 4 to 7 for ‘Two Sessions’

Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will attend the opening of the fourth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) on March 5 in Beijing, authorities stated today (Wednesday).

The CE’s Chief-of-Office, Hoi Lai Fong, will accompany the head of government on the visit to the capital between March 4 to 7 for China’s largest annual political meetings, known as the ‘two sessions’

Secretary for Administration and Justice, Andre Cheong Weng Chon, will serve as Acting Chief Executive during his visit.

Local legislators and NPC members previously indicated one of the priorities for the annual trip to the political event was to request for Chinese central authorities to ease travel requirements for mainland tourists, in order to boost the local economy still reeling from the pandemic impact.

The local NPC members had to be vaccinated to attend the event, with Ho the first vaccinated when the local special vaccination plan was initiated on February 9.
