China reported a steady increase in its natural gas output in the first five months of the year, official data shows.
The country’s natural gas output totaled 87.2 billion cubic meters during the period, up 10.3 percent year on year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The volume rose 21.4 percent compared with the 2019 level, putting average January-May growth at 10.2 percent for 2020 and 2021.
In May alone, China’s natural gas output amounted to 16.9 billion cubic meters, rising 5.8 percent from a year earlier.
Natural gas imports posted rapid expansion in May, surging 31.7 percent year on year to 10.32 million tonnes, according to the NBS.
