City’s Covid-19 cases climb to eight since last Wednesday

Macau’s Covid-19 cases have risen to eight in total since last Wednesday after authorities confirmed late last night one more local resident to be infected with the coronavirus.

The latest case is a 34-year-old woman whose infection was discovered when she was being isolated in Block one of Edificio Lai Va San Chun in the Areia Preta district, a residential building that had already been placed on lockdown yesterday morning after a female casino croupier and her two sons contracted Covid-19.

She had already been admitted to the Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane for medical treatment.

The cluster of three infections yesterday morning prompted the government to seal off MGM Cotai, and require all local inhabitants to take a daily rapid antigen test until 1 November.

A wider target population was also subjected to an emergency nucleic acid test campaign for three days.
