Clothing store manager accused of stealing MOP70,000

A clothing store manager was arrested for allegedly stealing MOP70,000 (MOP8,665) from the store he was responsible for managing, the Judiciary Police (PJ) announced today.

The 36-year-old man was the unit manager of an international chain clothing store and was responsible for managing four stores in Macau, according to the PJ spokesperson.

However, he was said to have stolen cash from one of the shops in a Cotai hotel’s shopping mall three times since July, having once claimed that he needed to take that cash to another branch store.

The general manager of the store later fired the suspect and reported the case to the PJ on August 9, with police arresting him on August 22.

The suspect admitted to having conducted the crime but added that he had spent all the stolen money on gaming.
