Construction of Legoland Shanghai Resort resumes

Construction of the Legoland Shanghai Resort officially resumed Wednesday, as the megacity of Shanghai inches back toward reopening after being brought to a standstill by the latest COVID-19 resurgence for nearly two months.

Covering an area of 318,000 square meters, the resort is located in the Jinshan District in southwestern Shanghai. Construction of the resort commenced in November 2021.

The resumption of the resort’s construction will help boost the development of the tourism and cultural industry, and will provide strong support for Jinshan District to accelerate the pace of transformation, according to Liu Jian, a local official.

Closed management and strict anti-epidemic prevention and control measures will be implemented in the resort construction zone to facilitate the resumption of work.

With investment totaling 550 million U.S. dollars, the resort is expected to open in 2024.
