Court bins Las Vegas Sands appeal in Jacobs case

A court in the United States has rejected an appeal by casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp against a lower court’s order that it turn over unredacted documents with bearing on a civil case pursued by Steven Jacobs, the former boss of the company’s Macau subsidiary, Sands China Ltd. The Associated Press reports that Las Vegas Sands had argued that turning over the documents without redacting personal information would break the law in Macau. Mr Jacobs is suing Las Vegas Sands for wrongful dismissal, accusing the company of doing business with gangsters and making inappropriate payments to a lawyer who was a member of Macau’s Legislative Assembly.
