A Food Bank and media association Macau Portuguese and English Press Association (AIPIM) have launched campaigns to help Caritas Macau, in response to the economic impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Group of Lusophone Scouts of Macau (GELMac), Casa de Portugal and the Portuguese School of Macau organize a Food Bank on Friday and Saturday that will revert in full to Caritas Macau.
The collected goods will then be distributed to needy local families and workers in Macau with the status of non-residents, affected by the current pandemic situation.
The delivery of food can be made at the headquarters of these three entities between 9:00am and 6:00pm, at Casa de Portugal, on the two days of the action, at EPM on the first, and on GELMac on the second.
The initiative follows the fundraising campaign launched last week by AIPIM.
The aim is to “acquire food items to be delivered to Caritas Macau with the objective of assisting this NGO [non-governmental organization] in supporting citizens (residents and non-residents) who are in great difficulty due to the crisis caused by the Covid-19”, AIPIM said in a statement.
“It is time for solidarity and we believe that it is our duty to play a role and contribute in the name of our social responsibility”, the Macau-based journalists’ association added.
The donation can be made through the account of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) number 9005555136.
