Emperor Entertainment expecting HK$160 mln in losses for Apr-Sept

Hotel and gaming group Emperor Entertainment Hotel Limited has declared that it expects to record more than HK$160 million (US$20.6 million) in net losses for the six month period ending on September 30.

The expected results represent a considerable downturn from the HK$177.2 million in net profits registered in the same period last year.

Emperor attributed the fall to a 90 per cent year-on-year drop in gaming revenues caused by a drastic decrease in the number of patrons during the period, as a result of the travel restrictions and health quarantine arrangements for inbound travellers caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emperor Entertainment is the gaming arm of Emperor International Holdings, which owns the Emperor Nam Van Centre, Grand Emperor Hotel and Inn Hotel Macau in the city.
