Scheduled to be launched in December this year, the book “Beautiful Machines – The Era of the Elegant Sports Car”, from the German publishing house Gestalten, reveals the fascinating stories of more than 45 cars that reflect the spirit of each era over the course of a century.

Written by the well-known writer Blake Z. Rong, who specialises in cars, and with a preface from journalist Jan Baedeker of “Classic Driver” magazine and Robert Klanten, CEO of the publishers, the book features large photos and unveils curious facts about some of the most legendary sports models of the last 100 years, as well as of their creators and their brands.

From the Maserati Ghibli, inspired by a shark’s head, to the iconic Lamborghini Miura, through to the super sporty Porsche 918 Spyder and the incredibly rare Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale, there are countless emblematic machines highlighted in the 300 or so pages that make up this book.

Considered true icons of the road, these cars, more than mere means of transportation, are synonymous with beauty, freedom, ambition, innovation and speed.
