Evaluation of social housing in final stages

The deputy director of the Housing Bureau, Kuoc Vai Han, has revealed that the evaluation of the latest applications for social housing has now entered the final stages, when replying to an interpellation by legislator Si Ka Lon. According to Ms. Kuoc, the Bureau had received a total of 6,146 applications by the end of August. However, it was found that more than 70 percent of the applicants’ documents were not sufficient, which consequently delayed evaluation as they were asked to submit the missing information. In addition, she said that the Bureau had approved a total of 15,531 applications for social housing in the previous four application periods, namely 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2009.
