Explosion recorded in Zhuhai petrochemical plant

A fire broke out in a petrochemical plant in Zhuhai after an explosion at around noon today, Guangdong authorities revealed.

The factory is located at the Zhuhai Gaolan Port and is owned by Zhuhai Changlian Petrochemical Co,.Ltd a subsidiary of the Esson New Energy Group.

According to Chinese newspaper People’s Daily, some 40 fire trucks and 200 local firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 1:43pm, including firefighters from Guangzhou, Foshan, Jiangmen and Zhongshan.

No reports of casualties have been received so far, with Zhuhai authorities having expressed the fire was already under control, with an investigation initiated on its causes.
