Exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau rise 35pct y-on-y in Jan-May

Exports of goods from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau in the first five months of the year rose 35 per cent compared to the same period in 2021, according to official data released today (Wednesday).

The value exported by Portuguese-speaking countries to the Chinese special administrative region between January and May was MOP372 million (US$46 million), according to the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

The amount imported from Macau by the Portuguese-speaking bloc grew by 103.4 per cent in annual terms, reaching MOP850,000).

In May, the last month under analysis, Macau recorded a trade deficit of MOP10.9 billion.
