Fuel supplier says Euro V means pricier petrol

Macau’s main fuel supplier says prices at the pump would rise if Euro V emission standards were introduced, our sister publication Business Daily reports today. To meet the less-polluting Euro V standards, state-owned Nam Kwong Petroleum and Chemical Co Ltd said it would need to improve its infrastructure. The company said the price increase would be more than MOP1 (US$0.13) a litre for unleaded petrol and light diesel. The Environmental Protection Bureau hopes to draft legislation imposing stricter standards on pollution emissions from unleaded petrol and light diesel by next year.
