Galaxy Entertainment Group warns of phone scams

Macau-based casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd. has warned that they have noticed ‘organised crimes’ by people posing as agents conducting the fraudulent sale and promotion of the casino operator’s hotel rooms and other packages through telephone calls with the objective of accessing victims’ personal and credit card information.
The alert has been posted on the company’s official website, where the company has noted that it has not conducted any telephone sales and marketing of its hotel rooms and other packages nor has it made any unsolicited requests for clients’ personal and credit card information via email or telephone call.
In March, Galaxy Entertainment also warned about fraudulent online gaming and betting websites exploiting the company’s brands. Online gambling in Macau is illegal.
Casino operators are not the only victims of scammers’ exploitation of their brands for illegal purposes.
In June, the city’s casino regulator issued a statement alerting the public of illegal gambling websites that claimed to have been licensed by the local government, for which the advertisments had been posted on the city’s taxis and residential buildings.
