BREAKING NEWS: Gaming revenues fall by 72.5pct y-o-y in October

Gross gaming revenues have dropped by 72.5 per cent year-on-year in October to about MOP7.2 billion (US$910.5 million), the best monthly result this year since January.

The results represent a 230 per cent rise from the MOP2.2 billion reported in the previous month.

The improved results come after tourist visas were reinstated for residents on all Chinese provinces on September 23 and after a lacklustre Golden Week holiday period between October 1 and 8 that saw about 156,300 visitors come to the SAR, versus almost 1 million a year earlier.

As of the end of October, an average of 40,000 daily visitors were entering and exiting the city, after a 15,000 daily average in September.

Meanwhile, cumulative gaming revenues for the first 10 months of this year decreased by 81.4 per cent year-on-year to some MOP45.8 billion.
