Government amends EMS regulations

The government has amended the public service regulations for Express Mail Service (EMS), the Official Gazette announced yesterday. According to the announcement, the amended regulations will allow the service provider to inform recipients of the arrival of express mail in electronic form. In addition, it will enable recipients to appoint a legal representative to claim mail for the recipient, as well as those living in the same housing units as the representative. Meanwhile, mail to offices, hospital and schools can be received by staff in those working venues. The new regulations become effective 30 days after yesterday’s official dispatch.
