Gov’t orders shutdown of entertainment and leisure venues, casinos remain open

The Macau SAR Chief Executive has ordered the shutdown of entertainment, sport and leisure venues starting from 5:00pm June 23.

The closure covers cinemas, theaters, indoor playgrounds, games and arcades centres, Internet cafes, snooker rooms, bowling venues, steam rooms, massage rooms, beauty salons, gym clubs, karaoke venues, bars, nightclubs, dancing venues, barber shops and public swimming pools.

The executive order also officialises that restaurants and drink shops are not allowed to provide dine-in services and can only provide take-away services.

The number of confirmed cases registered in the city in the most recent outbreak has jumped to 110

Shortly after the reveal of the most updated number of cases, it was announced that Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will hold a press conference at 2:30pm to address the city’s pandemic situation.

This week’s second round of a citywide mass nucleic acid test (NAT) has started at 9:00am today (Thursday) and runs until midnight tomorrow (Friday), lasting for 39 hours.
