Gov’t reclaims idle land for residential use

The Macau SAR Government has announced that it has taken back two plots of idle land. According to the Official Gazette released yesterday one plot is located on Estrada Lou Lim Ieok near Lisboa Garden. The 7,324 square metres of land would be the first plot of land for residential use that the government has reclaimed since last March. Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On said during his Policy Address in March that the list of these 22 idle land parcels – to become land reserves for the city – would be announced in a short period of time. Another plot occupying 930 square metres located in Ilha Verda is for industrial use, and is at the junction of Travessa do Laboratório and Rua Marginal do Canal dos Patos. So far, the government has reclaimed 10 plots. The Official Gazette also revealed that the existing structure at the junction of Rua da Ribeira do Patane and Travessa da Escama will be turned into a 2-star hotel. The hotel will be seven storeys high with a two-level basement. The construction area will be 1,111 square metres. The area of the land after revision is 104 square metres; 8 square metres will be used as public roads. The premium price of the land amounts to MOP4.82 million.
