Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Journalism and Communication Education Alliance founded

A Greater Bay Area journalism and communication education association has been established yesterday (Wednesday) by the communication departments of some universities in Macau, Hong Kong and Mainland China.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Journalism and Communication Education Alliance were founded by the Macau University of Science and Technology(MUST), together with some other renowned universities in Hong Kong and the neighbouring Guangdong province, including the Hong Kong Baptist University, Sun Yat-sen University and Jinan University.

At the opening ceremony of the 8th Macau International Communication Week yesterday, the creation of the alliance was announced by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Macau Media Studies Center of MUST.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the alliance will “strengthen the development of journalism and communication disciplines in universities in the greater bay area, establish a exchange mechanism for the cultivation of journalism and communication talents, and promote the integration process of production, education and research.

The “Survey on Urban Digital Communication” focusing on the digitalization level of Macau society, was also launched at the opening ceremony by Shen Guolin, director of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office of Fudan University.

Tencent Group – one of the largest Chinese multinational technology and entertainment conglomerates – together with some state-owned newspaper companies including Nanfang Daily Newspaper Group, Yangcheng Evening News Group and Southern Metropolis Daily, will hold a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Media Forum on the 8th Macau International Communication Week, to exchange cultural integration and meaning production in the GBA.
