Guangzhou incubators attract 90 projects backed by Macau youth

There are about 90 projects backed by Macau young entrepreneurs that currently receive assistance and enjoy services provided by the incubation centres in nearby Guangzhou, Guangdong province, said Chan Hon Sang, deputy director of Macau Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT).

These projects engage in areas of technology and innovation, healthcare, culture and creativity, cross-border commerce, and professional services, the official said.

The Macau projects have received the support under the so-called Professional Consultancy Services Exchange Programme launched by the DSEDT for youth entrepreneurship in 2019, establishing a cooperation mechanism between the incubation centres in the mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the ones in Macau.

According to the cooperation programme, the youth incubation centres across the border will provide support for young entrepreneurs from Macau, and vice versa.

Mr Chan said on Monday a total of 23 incubation centres in Guangdong have joined the programme, including seven from Guangzhou.

The DSEDT would continue to roll out a wide array of measures to support and facilitate the cooperation of young entrepreneurs between Macau and other cities in the Greater Bay Area, as well as optimising the existing mechanism and policies, the official added.
