Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will travel to Beijing between May 20 and 22 to attend the opening of the third session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC).
Ho will be accompanied by the chief of the chief executive’s office, Hoi Lai Fong, with Secretary for Administration and Justice, André Cheong, to temporarily act as chief executive.
Ho is former member of the NPC Standing Committee, having resigned in April of last year in order to put forward his candidacy for the top government position.
Elected in August, he took office last December 20.
Macau has 12 delegates in the NPC, China’s main legislative body, elected on December 17, 2017.
These and members of the national committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CCPPC) will take part in the ‘two sessions’ in Beijing.
The first chief executive of Macao, Edmund Ho, is currently the vice-chairman of the national CCPPC committee.
