IFTM named Asia’s best and top 10 globally in hospitality and leisure management studies

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) has been ranked as one of the top 10 higher education institutions globally for hospitality and leisure management studies – and the best in Asia for this field, according to the latest QS World University Rankings.

It marks the first time that a higher education institution in Macau has achieved such a high position in the rankings.

The 2023 rankings, which rated the top higher education institutions across the world by individual topic areas, placed IFTM 10th worldwide in terms of programmes in hospitality and leisure management, representing a leap across 13 places from last year.

Within the city, the tertiary education establishment maintained its top position in this field for the seventh consecutive year.

As many as 2,477 institutions around the globe were evaluated for hospitality and leisure management education, representing an increase of 14 per cent in comparison with the previous year.

IFTM’s high score was attributed to its strong academic standing, with the institute also seeing a significant improvement in its employer reputation score, reflecting the high regard in which its alumni are held in the job market.
